About CLIC
In 1992, a couple of chaps, one American and one Canadian, sat together overlooking East Grand Lake chatting about how lucky they were to have such a great place to spend their free time. They called a couple of their friends and suggested they form a lake association.
This would give POWER to the PEOPLE. The joint interests of both Canadian and American residents along the Upper St. Croix Watershed continues to be CLIC’s enduring mission today.

What We Do

Chiputneticook Lakes International Conservancy (CLIC) exists to serve its members who are property/business owners or residents in the Chiputneticook Lakes area as well as nature/outdoor enthusiasts who visit, explore and play in our beautiful region. Every Member shares our interest in the preservation and improvement of our breathtaking natural environment.
Some things may have changed since CLIC was formed in 1992, but the top priorities continue to be protecting the Lakes’ health, environment and community through attention, education, action and communication.
CLIC Board
The CLIC Board – elected at the Annual General Meeting by the members – listens to and acts on member concerns. CLIC represents members with organizations such as the International Joint Commission (IJC), The St. Croix International Waterway Commission (SCIWC), Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife (MDIFW), Woodland Pulp LLC, and other Government agencies and organizations from both Canada and the United States including the Local US and Canadian Border Protection Offices and Agencies.
The Board also interacts with local businesses, fishing camps and lodges, community groups and any other interested/relevant parties. We also keep our members up-to-date on CLIC happenings with a twice-yearly newsletter and an Annual General Meeting.
CLIC Members
CLIC members are typically waterfront property owners, nearby residents and individuals with a strong connection to the Chiputneticook Region who are passionate about its health and well-being. Our members share a desire to protect the lake's water quality, environment, recreational opportunities, and property values.
CLIC organizes and encourages our members to participate in activities like water quality monitoring, shoreline cleanups, community events and get togethers and educational initiatives to preserve the lake experience for future generations.
The annual CLIC membership fees support the Conservancy's initiatives, events and top priorities.
